All the social media updates you need
In this edition, we deliver the latest on Twitter's re-brand to X, LinkedIn algorithm updates, and more. Read on for what you need to know.

Twitter is now officially "X"
Twitter has replaced its iconic bird logo with "X" by deactivating its old profile, redirecting users to its new account and making a statement at its HQ. Twitter's new CEO confirmed its re-branding by saying,
"X is the future state of unlimited interactivity – centered in audio, video, messaging, payments/banking – creating a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services, and opportunities. Powered by AI, X will connect us all in ways we’re just beginning to imagine."
Could this be the U.S. version of China's WeChat? We will have to wait and see in the coming months.
What does this change mean for brands?
While it's too soon for any significant changes to the platform other than the name change, we can expect to post as usual―for the time being. However, any assets that includes the logo of the platform on your website and other marketing materials will need to be changed eventually.
LinkedIn's algorithm update
The platform's algorithm updates aim to combat irrelevant posts that don't encourage engagement from your network. It's now prioritizing the relevance of a post to your specific audience, your profile's expertise and past activity in the post topic and "meaningful comments" from connections historically interested in your post.
As a brand advocate, this means you're encouraged to share more of your expertise to your niche audience.
For brands, this means posting high quality, easy-to-read content that encourages comments and not just reactions, adding three or fewer hashtags in a single post, using strong keywords (not just fluff like #comment, #like, or #follow) and posting no more than every 3 hours.

TikTok adds text posts
In addition to being able to post videos and photo-based slideshows, TikTok users can now also share text-based posts with music and stickers. This new update appears similar to Instagram Stories: users can choose a background color, add text within its 1,000- character limit, edit how the text appears, and add music and stickers to the post.
New features on Threads
While Europe is still without Threads, Meta has announced new features for users to view a chronological feed of posts from followed accounts, translate option for posts in a different language, filter notifications, a new follow button and "approval all" follow requests. This week's updates seem to be a welcomed surprise for those who are already on the platform, enticing them to keep using the app.
For brands who are based in the EU, we'll continue to monitor the app's availability.
